Krissy grew up on a property in SE Qld and has always loved wide open spaces and the freedom of the outdoors. In 2015 she experienced a life threatening health crisis and it forced her to take stock of her life, deciding to not only start living the length of her life but the width of it also. Lost in her long term medical career she decided to start finding her own path again. Volunteering at many organisations to define her strengths and weaknesses she kept drifting towards the outdoors, teaching and places with a strong sense of community and purpose. Krissy chose to close the door on her belongings, live out of a pack, pursue a career as an Outdoor Guide & Educator and live without walls.
"It wasn’t a hard choice, but it has been the most challenging and rewarding decision I’ve ever made. Working in this industry gives me the beautiful outdoors, space to breath, the capacity to share my experiences with others to help them achieve their potential and to continue working towards achieving what I know I am capable of without limits. Life in your stretch zone should be priority. They say you are happiest in your adult life doing what you did when you were 10 years old as that's when you were the most resilient. It's exciting to play in that space again. I don't believe in walking the on the track when you could make your own. This is about big life lessons in big open spaces. Exploration is curiosity, and around every corner is an opportunity to discover something new." "The biggest lessons I've learnt living in the open spaces as an outdoor field guide - be flexible. Challenges and adaptability out here can occur within hours sometimes from weather, medicals, injury, group dynamics and completely changing and existing navigation route depending on situational factors. Keeping the momentum moving forward, smiling through it and trending with a sense of normality is often tricky. On rebuilding my life, living out on the edges continually gives me what I sought during those periods of personal exploration and definition - to walk different paths, always take one more step and be on the lookout for what is around each corner. My profession and experience gives me the opportunity to take and teach my clients and guests those very principles of experiential learning with adventure programs, a chance to see the bigger picture and challenge by choice practices, to assist them to find passion and purpose as I have. Changing perspectives of lifestyle through living simply without expectations or wants. Living with integrity and discovery your own potential. The less you own, the more you have." "all travellers to wild places will have felt some version of this, a brief blazing perception of the world's disinterest, in small measures it exhilarates, but in full form it annihilates.' - Robert MacFarlane
